We absolutely love the "built-in" look of expandable drawer organizers and this one lends an elegant touch to that look. This organizer slides smoothly when adjusting, too. It doesn't have anything to prevent slipping (though none of our other bamboo drawer organizers do either), so I use a non slip mat (like the stuff for under area rugs, but made for cabinets and drawers) to keep this in position because my drawer is a little longer than the organizer is. That means we are able to achieve an extra storage space, along the edge, since the organizer stays put now. This organizer's wood is a little thinner than others we have, but it appears to be made better. One of our other ones (NOT InterDesign brand) had nice thick bamboo and a tongue and groove construction that should have been impressive, but it actually fell apart in transit. So, even though this bamboo is thinner, it shows no signs of separating and even more importantly, the rail system it has for expanding helps it do so smoothly and solidly when it is in the drawer. We also have a couple of white plastic expandable organizers and they are harder to pull apart (tend to have lots of side to side movement as you do so) and they do not look quite as nice, but they are also a bit easier to clean, since I throw them in the top rack of the dishwasher. Obviously you cannot throw bamboo in the dishwasher, but I have found that just a quick vacuum of the compartments and wipe out makes them like new again. We have some wooden expandable drawer organizers from Williams Sonoma, so I was interested to see if there was a significant drop in quality with this model from InterDesign Formbu. Sadly I was disappointed with the quality of the InterDesign Formbu organizer as the wood felt flimsy (thin) and the expandable section came off its tracks a few times. Once in the drawer the organizer was comparable, in function, to what we have from Williams Sonoma. Overall I give the organizer a C- in quality and B+ in function. As a point of comparison, I would give the Williams Sonoma an A for quality and function. Keep in mind that a Williams Sonoma will run you $60-$70.When expanded, this organizer is 16 inches wide and 18 inches in depth. Technically, each of those dimensions is about one-sixteenth less than 16X18 inches. The height is just under 2 inches. My drawer is 19 inches deep and the width is about one-sixteenth of an inch wider than this organizer when fully expanded - virtually perfect. My drawer depth is 3½ inches. My only wish was the height of this organizer was a half-inch higher. But two inches works fine. There are a lot of different sizes and configurations of expandable bamboo drawer organizers available. So it becomes trying to find the best match for your flatware or cutlery and drawer size. There are many combinations available. I already had two organizers that fit precisely in width of one of my widest kitchen drawers - snug fit. I started trying to use this organizer with the wide drawer, but then emptied out a side drawer and this InterDesign organizer expanded almost perfectly in it. It was almost as if it were a custom fit.I have a lot of flatware - service for 12 I think and more of some things than others. I could not get all of it to fit properly with this expandable organizer. So I put the flatware back in the wider drawer and reorganized it so that everything fit better. Now both drawers look a lot better. Before one was sort of a junk drawer full of odds and ends. I threw out some junk that was never needed. The first two photos are in a wide drawer so you can see the closed and expanded width difference. The third photo is a drawer in which this expander fits as perfectly as you could ever expect in width and used up all the depth except one inch. The fourth and fifth photos are just an experiment in arranging the flatware. The last photo is how I finalized the two drawers. This organizer is on the right hand side.I have another wide drawer in which to put an organizer. I have three different widths of drawers in my kitchen. I didn't realize adjustable organizers existed until now. I will need to do some research to see what I can do to find a good match with the drawer. I especially like the 18-inch depth. Most organizers I saw don’t appear to go this deep in a drawer. This organizer very nearly fills up the entire drawer except for a trivial inch at the back. And the width does fill up all the available space perfectly. I couldn’t ask for a better fit. I have an interest in their fixed-width cutlery organizer, but the dimensions are obviously incorrect. I’ll have to request the dimensions.InterDesign's Formbu Expandable Bamboo Cutlery Drawer Organizer with Divided Compartments is bigger than I thought it would be even without expanding it. It can hold quite a bit and it has a good weight to it as well so it won't slide around no matter where you put even if items are in it or not. I like the color and look of it so it looks good either in a drawer or displayed on a shelf.Very functional. Can be used for small or larger drawers. Slides open very easily.I have a HUGE drawer that I planned to organize this with but found it didn't fit the direction I needed it to go. I tried it the other way but then the spaces were inconvenient for the items I wanted to sort.Pros:The adjustable sides mean you can expand it to fit your drawer. This is a big plus.IF you can expand the sides (your drawer is large enough) you get two very long slots for all those really long kitchen implements. It looks classier than plastic.Cons:Wood is of reasonable but not excellent quality.I find cleaning wood organizers more difficult when used in the kitchen. However, for use in sorting junk drawers or desk drawers. The price point on this is high for the quality. This is a pretty nice expandable cutlery storage tray. I wish that it came with a way to lock the tray in the expanded position. As it is now, we just have it weighed down with our utensils and wedged into place with all the other miscellaneous utensils that we keep in the drawer. The bamboo construction looks and feels just like any other brand of bamboo kitchenware that I've ever owned. The sliding sides feel a little flimsy, but the rest of the build feels solid enough for a utensil tray.Very happy
